The kingdom is in trouble! Giant Blunderbore and his partner in crime, the evil witch Poison Ivy, are blackmailing the royal family, forcing them to pay protection money or else the Giant will gobble them up!  All that stands between the Royals and the Giant's dinner plate is a collection of unreliable misfits! Dizzy Dame Trott faces eviction from her dairy while her son, Idle Jack, daydreams that his destiny will find him.

A tale of love, adventure and some beans, a gruesome Giant, a wicked Witch, a fabulous Fairy, a brave Hero, the obligatory village Idiot, a daft Dame and, of course, a cute and cuddly cow!

Can this motley gang save the kingdom from destruction and beat the beastly Giant and the wicked Witch? And what can Fairy Beansprout do to help them?

The Vortex

Noel Coward, 1923

Wednesday April 18th- Saturday April 21st

A storm is brewing that threatens to engulf the Lancaster family. Returning from Paris, talented but troubled young pianist Nicky discovers that his beautiful socialite mother, Florence, has taken a lover half her age. Battling with his own sexuality and the temptation of drugs, Nicky also has to deal with his mother's refusal to accept her age, whilst she in turn has to come to terms with the revelations that he is not as she has seen him.
The same team that produced last year's best-selling 'Under Milk Wood' is working on this production of Noel Coward's early and autobiographical drama, The Vortex, which mixes the comedy of manners of 'Hay Fever' with a more serious study of drugs and homosexuality in early 1920s high society. An unflinching expose of the hedonism of the social elite, the play retains its force and relevance in our 21st century world. Not to be missed!
